Excuses.. but having my host die on me last year and losing some posts really didn’t make me eager to use my blog anymore, and I definitely lost steam. Decided I’d try to get at least one post out this year, so I can say that I blog every year.

So this year…

  • I stopped doing kickboxing. While I really enjoyed the exercise, I didn’t enjoy the combat.
  • My son was born. James is healthy and happy, and we are so thankful for him.
  • I started reading more. I uninstalled some apps and games from my iPhone, and installed the Kindle reader, and I’ve been reading quite a bit in my free time. I’ve tried to keep track of what I’ve been reading, but haven’t remembered to write down every title. American Prison was probably one of my favorite since it’s a topic that interests me.
  • I’ve started doing intermittent fasting after reading a great book about fasting. It isn’t too hard. The two biggest changes are that I try not to eat after 6-7 pm, and then I don’t eat anything until lunch the next day. I will do coffee in the morning, but nothing until lunch. It keeps getting easier.
  • I started jogging. This is a big one. I started doing Couch to 5K (C25K), and this week I’m completing week 8, and I’ve been running at least 5K this whole week. I’m planning on continuing on and keep running and trying to get up to 10K, and we’ll see what happens from there.

This post is a little sloppy, but I’m worried that if I put too much effort into it, that I’ll put it off and never publish it.

I’ve decided not to set specific resolutions. I don’t really care too much if I start something from January 1st. I started jogging at the beginning of November, and it’s been great.

Next year, I hope to continue to get into shape with the intermittent fasting, and continued jogging. I want to increase my endurance and the distance that I’m able to run without feeling like I’m dying.

Continue with more reading, less movies. If I watch a movie, it should at least be a good movie, and not waste my time on junk.

Grace will be starting 1st grade, and I want to make sure that I am helping her regularly with her homework and developing good study habits, something I don’t have much of.. due to my schedule flexibility, developed from my homeschooling experience.

Decided not to buy a gaming PC (yet). I’d rather try focus my free time on something more productive, whether it is reading another book, spending time with my kiddos, or trying to think about good website ideas, and maybe earn a bit more.

Be a good dad to Grace and James. Help them develop an interest in reading.

Be a good/patient/happy husband for Steph.

Continue to work on minimalism.. buying less, and owning less.
